Kagiso Rabada isn't one of those players who shows emotions on the field. However, the South African paceman was absolutely ecstatic on Saturday during their World Cup 2023 match against Sri Lanka in Delhi. And the reason behind it was Kusal Mendis’ wicket.

Mendis was going berserk at Arun Jatley Stadium, having smashed eight sixes and four fours in a scintillating 42-ball 76. Therefore, despite coming to defend a record 429, South Africa were in a spot of bother due to Mendis’ counter-attacking cameo.

But Rabada ended Mendis’ stay in the 13th over of Sri Lanka’s innings. It was a back of a length delivery which did the trick, as Mendis tried to cut, only to find a thick outside edge. The ball was going to Heinrich Klaasen, who did not make any mistake before completing a simple catch.

Rabada was aggressive on the field as soon as extra bounce outdid Mendis. He was seen staring at Mendis with anger, while the Sri Lankan was in complete shock after his dismissal.

David Miller and Aiden Markram came quickly towards Rabada to congratulate the South African, who was still celebrating aggressively when they arrived. 


At the time of writing, Sri Lanka are 121/4 in 16.2 overs, with Charith Asalanka and Dhananjaya de Silva in middle, on 8* and 2* respectively.
