Jasprit Bumrah played an audacious cover drive against Mark Wood on Friday (March 8) which reminded fans of Virat Kohli, who did not play a single Test of the ongoing five-match series between India and England due to personal reasons.
When Jasprit Bumrah came to bat at No. 10, India were in trouble, having slipped from 427/5 to 428/8 in no time. Then Bumrah steadied the ship alongside Kuldeep Yadav, and took their team to 473/8 at stumps on Day 2 in fifth and final Test in Dharamsala.
The highlight of their gritty partnership was a shot that he played against Mark Wood, easily the world’s fastest bowler at present. It came off the first ball of the 118th over of India’s innings when Wood bowled a full delivery outside the off stump. Bumrah saw the opportunity and played a glorious cover drive for four runs.
The timing of the shot was so exquisite that even all the support staff gave him a standing ovation to give him a round of applause.
