Jasprit Bumrah has put in a clinical display with the ball as he ripped through the Australian batting order on Day 2 of the ongoing Second Test at Adelaide Oval. The Indian pacer was at his destructive best, adding the wicket of Australia’s captain, Pat Cummins, to his tally.
In the 85th over of Australia’s second innings, Bumrah unleashed a superb delivery that sent the Australian skipper packing. At the time of his dismissal, Cummins had made a hard-fought 12 runs off 22 balls. The wicket came after a fiery spell from Bumrah, who had earlier removed Nathan McSweeney and Steve Smith on day 2.
Bumrah Knocks Over Cummins With Perfect Delivery
The incident occured when Jasprit Bumrah bowled a beautiful delivery. The ball was full, fast, and moved sharply in from outside off-stump, that caught Pat Cummins completely off guard. With little foot movement and an angled bat, Cummins could only watch as the ball breached the gap between his bat and pad. It jagged in, before hitting the top of the off-stump, that send the Australian captain back to the pavilion.
The delivery, perfectly timed in line and length, left Pat Cummins stranded without any chance of offering a shot. The Indian pacer didn't hide his delight after the dismissal, and offered the Australian captain a brief but cold stare as he walked off the field. Bumrah flashed a smirky smile at him.
Bumrah’s Early Strikes Put India In Control
Earlier in the day, Bumrah started Day 2 with a bang and claimed two crucial wickets in quick succession Nathan McSweeney and the ever-reliable Steve Smith. Bumrah’s early breakthroughs helped India gain the upper hand after a solid Australian start on Day 1. He had earlier rattled the Australian top order on Day 1, and claimed the wicket of Usman Khawaja. At the time of writing, Australia are at 332 at the loss of 8 wickets.
