Veteran Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah finally got a wicket in the Boxing Day Test, dismissing Australian opener Usman Khawaja in the ongoing fourth Test between the two teams in Melbourne. The experienced pacer broke the solid second-wicket stand between Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne, getting rid of the former at a crucial juncture of the game.

The incident occurred during the 45th over of Australia's first innings when the hosts had already claimed the driving seat, courtesy of Sam Konstas and Khawaja's scintillating half-centuries. Indian captain Rohit Sharma's decision to bring Jasprit Bumrah back into the attack paid rich dividends, with the express pacer removing Khawaja.

From around the wicket, Bumrah surprised Khawaja with an ordinary short ball, as the batter went for a half-hearted pull shot. However, the only thing he managed was a miscue off the toe end of his bat, with KL Rahul taking a simple catch at short midwicket.

Australia In A Commanding Position In Boxing Day Test

After Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bat first, the Indian pacers kept the opening batters quiet with his razor-sharp bowling. However, Sam Konstas hammered the Indian bowlers to all parts of the ground before Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne steadied the ship with a consolidating stand. At the time of writing, Australia were 221 for two, with Labuschagne and Steve Smith batting in the middle.
