In a notable development, the Indian team management has informed the players that there will be no optional training session before the final Test of the ongoing three-match series against New Zealand. Under Rohit Sharma's leadership, India incurred a shambolic 113-run loss in Pune to concede the series to the visitors.

Following the home side's second consecutive Test defeat, the team management cleared the players of optional training, asking them to be available for two compulsory practice sessions instead.

No One Can Skip The Practice Sessions: Indian Team Management

As reported by The Indian Express, most of the Indian players and the support staff will arrive in Mumbai on the 27th. They will be given a two-day break to energise themselves before undergoing a hectic two-day practice session on the 30th and the 31st of this month.

Generally, fast bowlers and a few established players are allowed to skip or be involved in light training before a Test. However, the Indian team's back-to-back abysmal performances haven't gone well with the team management. Therefore, these practice sessions are compulsory, and no one will be allowed to skip them.

“The team management has asked the players to be present for two days of practice on October 30 and 31. It’s compulsory and no one can skip it,” a source told Indian Express.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul have already left for Mumbai to be with their respective families before joining the rest of the squad.

Is Mumbai Test A Do Or Die Game For India From WTC Context?

Having lost two successive home Tests, India will be seeking a renaissance in the final dead rubber at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. This game holds significant importance for the home team, as another defeat will jeopardise their chances of appearing in the World Test Championship final for the third straight time.
