In a move that signals their intent to dominate the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) season 10, Perth Scorchers have secured the services of Indonesian cricket sensation, Ni Made Putri Suwandewi. Known affectionately as Tori, the 26-year-old has made a name for herself as a formidable fast bowler in international cricket circles, making her one of the most exciting talents to watch in the upcoming WBBL tournament.

Ni Made Putri Suwandewi Sets Sights on WBBL Glory

Since her debut on the international stage in January 2019, Suwandewi has been nothing short of spectacular for the Indonesian cricket team. With a staggering haul of 49 wickets from just 42 matches at an impressive average of 8.18, her brilliance with the ball is evident. Her economy rate of 2.97 runs per over not only speaks volumes about her ability to restrict runs but also her knack for taking crucial wickets.

Suwandewi's addition to the Scorchers for WBBL 2024-25 under the associate rookie rule allows the club to include her outside their primary 15-player squad, with the option to field her as a fourth international player or as a replacement for any injured or unavailable players during the tournament.

A Landmark Partnership Blossoms Bringing Opportunities and Development

The acquisition of Suwandewi is the crowning achievement of a growing partnership between WA Cricket and Persatuan Indonesia Cricket. Initiated in January with a memorandum of understanding, this collaboration aims to nurture cricketing talent and exchange valuable insights and methodologies in coaching and player development.

Focused initially on nurturing female talent, the program aims to elevate Indonesia into the top ten of the International T20 rankings within the next three years.

Tori Suwandewi Eager to Make Her Mark in the Prestigious WBBL

Expressing her enthusiasm about joining the Perth Scorchers, Suwandewi shared her long-standing admiration for the WBBL, regarded as one of the premier T20 competitions globally.

Her excitement about integrating into the Scorchers' setup and working alongside seasoned coaches and players highlights her readiness to take on new challenges and contribute to the team’s success.

With a squad that includes powerhouses like Sophie Devine, Beth Mooney, and Alana King, Suwandewi’s inclusion adds an intriguing dynamic to the Scorchers’ already formidable lineup. Her unique skill set and fresh perspective are set to inject additional vigour into their campaign to clinch the WBBL 2024-25 title.

As the WBBL 2024-25 countdown heats up, all eyes will be on Ni Made Putri Suwandewi as she prepares to make a splash on the big stage.
