Match 1 of the Asia Cup 2023 between Pakistan and Nepal took place on Wednesday, August 30, and Iftikhar Ahmed lit the Multan Cricket Stadium on fire. In his brilliant 71-ball 109 not out, the 32-year-old hit 11 fours and four sixes, aiding Pakistan in putting up 342/6 on the board.

It was Iftikhar’s first ODI hundred, which came on his 15th appearance in the 50-over format. Prior to that, he amassed 293 runs overall at an average of 36.62, with the best score being 94 not out. Therefore, no wonder his celebration after reaching the landmark was nothing short of epic.

Iftikhar notched his first ODI hundred during the 49th over of Pakistan’s innings by hitting a glorious boundary off Karan KC. Soon after, he took off his helmet, pumping his arms as he roared joyfully towards the dressing room.

Iftikhar was ably assisted by Babar Azam, who made 151 off 131 balls, laced with 14 fours and four sixes. Riding on their superb fifth-wicket partnership, Pakistan ended up with a massive total on the board after losing Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq, two of their most dependable batsmen, early in the innings.
