Rajasthan Royals got a major breakthrough in the final over of the match against CSK. With 20 needed to win, MS Dhoni attacked Sandeep Sharma’s low full toss only to get caught by Shimron Hetmyer at deep long-on.

IPL 2025 season served us another exciting last over thrilling contest. RR posted 182 runs on the board batting first and CSK flattered in the chase due to Wanindu Hasaranga’s four-wicket-haul.

However, the match stretched to the final over where Hetmyer’s fielding brilliance saved the day for RR.

Shimron Hetmyer Humbles Thala Dhoni To Leap Blinding Catch

With 39 needed off the last 2 overs, MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja slammed 19 runs off Tushar Deshpande’s penultimate over. Moreover, RR's stand-in captain Riyan Parag made a crucial decision, choosing Sandeep Sharma over Jofra Archer to bowl the final over.

Regardless, Sandeep delivered by getting the important wicket of CSK’s last and only hope, Dhoni. The RR pacer bowled a low, wide full toss, tempting Dhoni into an ambitious heave across the line.

The fans gasped as the ball appeared headed for the boundary before Hetmyer came into the picture. At deep mid-wicket, the West Indian ran to his left and dived at the dipping ball, making an incredible catch inches from the grass.

His acrobatics left Dhoni himself stunned, and the CSK dugout was visibly shaken as the veteran legend walked back to the dressing room.

This dismissal was a huge blow to Chennai, as they lost their finisher at the wrong moment. MS Dhoni managed 16 runs off 11 deliveries, including a four and a six, but his untimely departure left the Super Kings with an uphill task.

Eventually, CSK couldn’t manage to cross the finish line and fell 6 runs short in the chase to suffer another humiliating defeat.
