South African Masters' Hashim Amla put on a marvellous show, leading his side to victory against England Masters in the ongoing International Masters League T20 (IMLT20) 2025. The game, which took place in Vadodara, saw the South African side chase 158 in 18.1 overs to win by seven wickets.

Hashim Amla Rewinds The Clock With A Gigantic Six

It was another high-profile game in the ongoing International Masters League T20 where England Masters were asked to bat first by the South African Masters side. They could manage 157 for six on the board after the completion of their 20 overs, as Tim Ambrose was the lead scorer from the team with 53 off 45 deliveries.

In pursuit of the chase, South African openers Hashim Amla and Henry Davids came out to bat but lost the latter in the very first over; hence, the responsibility rested on the shoulders of experienced Amla.

The veteran batted 55 deliveries for his 82* against the English side, pounding bowlers all over the park while he smashed runs at 149.09 to stay unbeaten till the end. Amla reached his half-century in 37 deliveries and went on to bat for his side to finish the game in 18.1 overs with much support from Alviro Petersen in the middle, who scored 56.

Amla dashed to his half-century with a massive six coming down the ground against left-arm tweaker Monty Panesar, who was thrashed by the right-hander with no respect whatsoever. Amla made use of his feet coming down the ground against the delivery that was pitched a little up as he went gigantic over the long-on region to clear the fence with ease.

This superlative effort by Amla helped the African side to finish the chase with seven wickets and 11 deliveries to spare.

South Africa Masters Earn First Points On The Board

After defeating the English side by seven wickets, the South African Masters have now moved to the fourth position on the table with one victory in three matches, while the English Masters are yet to open their account after completing three of the games.

The South African Masters will now next play against the mighty Australian team on the 7th of March, while the Eoin Morgan-led English side will be up against the Sri Lanka Masters on the 10th of March.
