Hasan Ali had a dream return in the ODIs for Pakistan on Friday (September 29), when the Men in Green were up against New Zealand in their first World Cup warm-up match in Hyderabad. The 29-year-old, who made a wildcard entry to the squad following an unfortunate Naseem Shah injury, struck early with the first ball of the day.

To make matters worse for the Kiwis, it was Devon Conway who fell to Hasan, that too for a golden duck.

It was a length ball by Hasan, which went towards Conway’s pads. The southpaw tried to flick it, but could not manage to keep the ball down. As a result, the ball went straight to Mohammad Nawaz, who did not have to move an inch before completing a simple catch.

Hasan had a big smile on his face, showing how much it meant for him to get a wicket on his return. The fast bowler, who last played an ODI back in June 2022, wanted to make an impact early, and got it what he was looking for.

Chasing 346, New Zealand, at the time of writing, are 36/1 at the end of six overs. Kane Williamson is in the middle, on 4* off 13 deliveries, while Rachin Ravindra is batting aggresively on 24* off 23 balls.
