Mehidy Hasan Miraz provided Bangladesh with momentary relief from the carnage in Dharamsala as the promising off-spinner got England's devastating opening batter Dawid Malan out after an incredible knock in the two teams' ICC World Cup league encounter.

Miraz got rid of the in-form left-hander after he lit up the beautiful venue nestled amidst the Dhauladhar Hills with a scintillating knock of 140 off 107 deliveries. Malan produced among the most brutal assaults in One-Day Internationals in recent history with a breathtaking progression to his century and hammered 16 fours and 5 sixes during his innings.

The experienced top-order batter made it a memorable outing for himself in England's second league stage fixture of the tournament by smashing his fifth century in ODIs for the defending World Cup champions. The cricketer vindicated the faith shown in him by the team management and the selectors.

England had shocked everyone by leaving out an in-form Jason Roy from their plans to fit in the talented middle-order batter Harry Brook when everyone anticipated them to put his opening partner Malan under the spotlight.

Miraz Gets His Man After Dawid Malan Smashes Memorable Ton

Exhibiting spectacular form in the middle, Malan was looking good for what could've easily been a maiden double century for him. However, the skill and the smarts shown by Miraz helped Bangladesh avoid further mauling at the hands of the Englishman.

Miraz dismissed Malan as he committed to another slog down the leg side. The youngster outsmarted the blistering left-hander with a slower delivery that evaded the batter's downswing and crashed onto the stumps. Miraz beat Malan's inside edge and shattered the three sticks behind him.

The last-minute change in pace meant that Malan was too early into his strike and missed the ball completely even on a day where he was posing an indomitable threat to the opposition, which reflects on the quality of the delivery from Miraz and his overall talent at the big stage.

Malan's knock was appreciated by the small crowd present at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala with a standing ovation as he walked off the ground after a special World Cup hundred next to his name.
