Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur could not hold back her laughter after number three batter Richa Ghosh escaped with a dropped catch by Australian cricketer Annabel Sutherland in the second ODI of their three-match series at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.

The rare Australian fielding lapse occurred during the 27th over of the Indian run-chase, at the time when Ghosh was batting at 36 alongside fellow well-set batter Jemimah Rodrigues.

Harmanpreet laughs after Sutherland drops a sitter

Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur laughingly reacted to Richa Ghosh’s narrow escape against Australia Women in their high-octane second ODI match in Mumbai. Ghosh, batting at 36* at the time, launched Australian spinner Alana King for a huge hit down the ground, only to find Annabel Sutherland at long-off.

As it turned out, Sutherland failed to hold on to a sitter to reprieve the Indian wicketkeeper-batter against a brewing partnership in the middle overs.

Richa Ghosh ended up making the most of her escape by listing her third ODI half-century in the match. After arriving to the crease in the seventh over of the innings, she also guided India past the 150-run mark with number four Jemimah Rodrigues.

Earlier in the game, Australia amassed 258-8 from their 50 overs after visiting skipper Alyssa Healy had opted to bat first. Interestingly, the Australian innings also featured a number of fielding lapses, with Team India players collectively dropping as many as seven catches in the first half of the game.

The match marks the second ODI of the three-match series between the two sides, with Australia taking the opening game honors at the same venue by six wickets on December 28.
