Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf and New Zealand batter Finn Allen were involved in a light-hearted and cheerful on-field moment during a Big Bash League clash on Saturday, January 17.
Cameras caught Haris Rauf giving Finn Allen a forceful nudge as the latter crossed the crease while walking back, an incident that initially looked aggressive but soon left fans both shocked and amused.
How Haris Rauf and Allen together pulled off the prank
Haris Rauf was bowling while defending Melbourne Stars’ total of 130 runs in the 39th match of the BBL 2025–26 season. Finn Allen opened the innings for Perth Scorchers alongside Mitchell Marsh, and the pair were successfully targeting and dismantling the Melbourne Stars bowling attack.
During one of Rauf’s overs, Finn Allen, who scored 69 runs off 39 balls in the match, found himself in what appeared to be a heated exchange that soon turned into a bizarre prank.
After completing the over, Haris Rauf walked back towards his run-up to mark the end of the spell. However, while returning, he suddenly shoved Finn Allen aside with his left-hand, making visible shoulder contact to push him off his path.

Finn Allen initially appeared upset, with a clear reaction on his face. However, moments later, Rauf broke into a wide smile, revealing the playful nature of the act, as both players burst into laughter.
Finn Allen was seen giggling, while Rauf laughed it off. Later, Rauf engaged with Allen again, this time with a friendly helmet tap and a side hug, acknowledging the earlier moment and reinforcing the camaraderie between the two.
What might have been the reason behind the awkward action?
The incident confused many viewers, as the exchange was unexpected. While it remains unclear what exactly transpired on the pitch, the two players share a history, as Finn Allen famously smashed Haris Rauf for 27 runs in a single over in January 2024. That assault came as retaliation after Rauf reportedly broke a pre-series agreement not to bowl bouncers.
While the on-field exchange left fans in the stadium and those watching on television in awe, the match ultimately went in favour of Finn Allen’s Perth Scorchers.
Stars collapse in front of Scorchers
Melbourne Stars suffered an early batting collapse, losing Thomas Rogers and Joe Clarke in the very first over. It was skipper Marcus Stoinis who held the innings together, scoring 55 runs off 39 deliveries to push Melbourne Stars to a total of 130.
In response, Perth Scorchers were guided by Finn Allen’s match-winning 69 and Aaron Hardie’s 41 off 37 balls, with skipper Ashton Turner seeing the chase through to the end.
Haris Rauf enjoying solid BBL run
Despite the playful antics on the field, Haris Rauf enjoyed a strong outing with the ball, picking up three wickets in his four overs while conceding just 23 runs.
Overall, Rauf has been in impressive form in the BBL, having claimed 18 wickets from 10 matches so far. His best figures this season remain the 3 for 23 he registered against the Perth Scorchers, with an economy rate of 7.97 and a strike rate of 12.00.
