On Friday, young Pakistani batter Haider Ali starred with the bat, as he struck a glorious boundary off Wayne Parnell to steal a tie for Derbyshire in the last-ball cliffhanger against Durham. Batting first, Durham posted a sizeable total of 178 runs, courtesy of an explosive half-century from Brydon Carse. In response, Derbyshire got off to a fabulous start, with Luis Reece, Harry Came and Wayne Madsen chipping in with handy contributions. However, after Leus du Plooy got out, they struggled to keep up the ante, eventually needing ten runs off the final over to win the match.

Durham skipper Alex Lees opted to go with the experienced South African seamer Wayne Parnell to bowl the 20th over. The veteran stood up to the expectations, conceding only five runs in his first five deliveries. The pressure was on Haider Ali, with his side needing a six to snatch a miraculous win from the jaws of defeat.

Although he couldn't hit a six, the Pakistani sensation guided a stump-line delivery past the square leg fence to help his team tie the game.

Talking about Derbyshire, the Leus du Plooy-led outfit has had an underwhelming campaign in the competition, occupying the seventh position with three victories in nine outings. They will take on Yorkshire in their upcoming fixture on Sunday in Chesterfield.
