India wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan is enjoying a purple patch in One-Day Internationals (ODI) having scored 184 runs in the three-match series against West Indies in the Caribbean.

Kishan, who was named Player of the Series for being the leading run-getter became only the second Indian gloveman after former captain MS Dhoni, to win the prestigious award overseas, apart from becoming the second keeper after the Chennai Super Kings-captain to score three-consecutive fifties in ODIs.  

However, an interesting incident has surfaced where Kishan could be heard replying to former India opener Aakash Chopra's comment. Chopra while doing commentary on Jio Cinema remarked about Kishan hailing from Ranchi, and not being Dhoni after a stumping appeal was made by the young Mumbai Indians batter.   

Kishan, who heard the comment through stump-mic replied instantly much to the delight of the On-Air commentators, Chopra, RP Singh and Nikhil Chopra. 


Here's what transpired between Aakash Chopra, Ishan Kishan

Chopra: "It's very rare that you review the stumping and run out dismissal. So far, I am seeing the feet on the ground. You can come from Ranchi, but your name is not MS Dhoni,"

Ishan: "Ha, fir thik hai. (Then it's okay)"

Chopra: "How sweet Ishan. We love you," 

The former Kolkata Knight Riders player also took to Twitter and shared his love for Kishan.


Kishan, who plays for Jharkhand in domestic cricket, has often been compared to Ranchi-born Dhoni, somebody the Patna-born youngster aspires to become and feels inspired. 

The 25-year-old will be in action this evening when India and West Indies play the first of five T20Is.
