In the final league fixture of the BBL 2024-25 season, Glenn Maxwell pulled off a stupendous inning of 76* off 32 balls to power Melbourne Stars to a mighty total of 219 runs. He was pumped up walking off the field at the end of the first inning as his teammates lined up to applaud him.
The BBL 2024-25 season went into its business end on January 19 when Melbourne Stars faced Hobart Hurricanes in the 40th match. The encounter was a virtual do-or-die contest for the Stars who depended on this match's results for their very faint playoff prospects.
With only one spot available in the final four, the Stars were pumped up to put their best foot forward. They batted first but faced early blows in Thomas Rogers and Sam Harper’s quick wickets.
However, Beau Webster and Marcus Stoinis stitched a 45-run partnership to settle things. To deliver the final punch, Glenn Maxwell came out to bat at no.5.
