Pakistan's pace spearhead Shaheen Afridi looked sharp with the ball as he claimed three crucial wickets for the Lions in their ongoing match against the Panthers in the Champions Cup. The left-arm pacer got the prized scalp of Umar Siddiq before jolting the Panthers with the valuable wickets of Amad Butt and Arafat Minhas.

Shaheen, who couldn't get Saim Ayub due to a poor fielding effort, soon redeemed himself by dismissing Umar Siddiq for a duck in the third over. The experienced pacer returned to haunt the Panthers towards the fag end of their innings, getting rid of Amad and Minhas in quick succession.

Before getting Minhas caught, Shaheen trapped Amad Butt plumb in front of the stumps with a beauty. The incident occurred during the 47th over of the Panthers' innings when Butt and Minhas were trying to ensure a fitting finish for their side following Shadab Khan's dismissal.

Shaheen Afridi had a poor start to the over, as Minhas struck a boundary off his first delivery. However, he turned things around quickly, building pressure on the batting duo with his immaculate accuracy.

As he kept Amad Butt under the pump, the right-handed batter went for an aggressive hoik to finish the over on a high note. However, Shaheen deceived him with his guile, making him fall into his trap.

Lions Get A Shaky Start After Panthers Post 283

The skippers' exceptional final spell helped the Lions restrict the Panthers to 283 runs in 46.5 overs. Despite Saim Ayub's failure, the Panthers managed a competitive score, thanks to magnificent knocks from Mubasir Khan and Haider Ali. Shadab Khan also chipped in with a valuable 37-run cameo before a controversial decision put an abrupt end to his stay in the middle.

In response, the Lions got a forgettable start to their innings, losing the key wickets of Abdullah Shafique and Sajjad Ali Hashmi. As of writing, they were eight for two, with Imam-ul-Haq unbeaten in the middle.
