In a bizarre incident during the SA20 2025 season, Faf du Plessis’ powerful shot hit his teammate on the other end, Devon Conway. Moreover, in a concerning turn of events, Conway was seen in immense pain as he walked off the field.

The SA20 2025 season is approaching the business end of league stages as Joburg Super Kings faced Pretoria Capitals in the 24th fixture.

The Super Kings were asked to bat first. Faf du Plessis and Devon Conway walked out to bat. However, Conway had to walk off the field as retired hurt in a bizarre incident.

In the third over, Eathan Bosch delivered a fuller delivery to Faf du Plessis, who attempted a powerful slog but ended up striking his batting partner Devon Conway on the right forearm.

The fierce shot off the toe end of the bat deflected onto Conway, causing immediate concern as the Kiwi batter winced in pain and required medical attention.

The SuperKings' fans held their breath as Conway appeared in severe discomfort while the physio tended to him. The situation added a bizarre twist when the deflected ball crashed onto the stumps, causing a temporary cheer from the crowd.

Eathan Bosch even made a playful attempt to pull out a stump, thinking Conway might be out, but the batter was quick to get back in his crease.

Unfortunately, Conway's injury seemed serious enough to force him off the field. He walked off the field as retired hurt and was replaced by Wihan Lubbe.

While Devon Conway did eventually return to bat, he was dismissed by Gideon Peters on 9 off 10 balls. Conway went for a pull to tackle a short-pitched delivery but failed to nail the timing, resulting in a simple catch to wicket-keeper Verreynne. With that wicket, Joburg Super Kings were 3 down with 45 runs on the board.
