India faced off agains England in the third match of the five T20Is series at the Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium in Rajkot. Even after a brilliant effort with the ball, the Indian batting failed to take the team through as the visitors registered their first win of the series.

Notably, India won the toss and put England to bat. Ben Duckett gave a brilliant start to the English team with his blazing knock of 51 runs off 28 deliveries. However, after the dismissal of Duckett, the team lost a bit of momentum and India made a roaring comeback into the game. Courtesy of Varun Chakravarthy's fifer, India managed to decimate the English middle-order.

It took a fiery cameo by Liam Livingstone to take England to a fighting total of 171/9 at the end of their 20 overs. The notion was that it was a good batting wicket and England might have fallen short of a par total.

India did not have a great start in the chase as they lost Sanju Samson early. After the dismissal of the wicketkeeper opening batter, the team struggled to get going as the visitors kept chipping away with the wickets. Hardik Pandya walked out to bat when India were stationed at 31 for two. From there, Pandya tried to get the team back on track.

Pandya Fails To Close The Game For India

Pandya set himself with steady knock of 40 runs from 30 deliveries. Just when, Hardik Pandya looked all settled to step up his game and take Indian across the line. It was the first delivery of the 19th over in which Jamie Overton picked up Pandya. Overton bowled a length delivery while taking the pace off at the off and middle stump line. Pandya cleared his front foot and had a wild swing at it but got the ball got off the toe edge. Buttler caught the ball comfortably and ended Pandya's stay in the middle.

Pandya was seen frustrated with himself after the dismissal and did not shy away from expressing it. He looked angry as he shouted at himself and threw his bat away while walking back.

After Pandya's departure India did not have much resilience left in them and were restricted to 145/9 at the end of the 20 overs. England won the game by 26 runs and closed down the margin of the series to 2-1.
