During the first T20I between Australia Women and England Women, Ellyse Perry was dismissed on just 7 off 6 balls in what turned out to be a game-changing moment for the host. She left her crease to go for a big shot but was beaten as wicket-keeper Amy Jones dislodged the bails with lightning speed.
Australia Women hosted England Women in the first T20I of the series at the Sydney Cricket Ground on January 20. The host team batted first and Beth Mooney played a fabulous knock of 75 off 51 balls. Phoebe Litchfield contributed with 25 off 20 balls.
However, veteran all-rounder Ellyse Perry failed to shower her magic with the ball. She came down to bat at no.4 and expectations were high for her since the Aussies were aiming for a good finish.

In the 13th over of the first inning, Sophie Ecclestone tossed one up invitingly around the off-stump, luring Perry into an aggressive stroke. Perry came down the wicket looking to take the bowler on for a big swing but was beaten as the ball spun past her bat.
Wicketkeeper Amy Jones, sharp and alert behind the stumps, seized the opportunity with precision. She snatched the ball with precision and whipped the bails off in flash.
Perry, unable to get her foot back behind the crease in time, was caught short. The third umpire confirmed the stumping, leaving Perry to walk back to the pavilion after managing just 7 runs off 6 balls, which included a solo boundary.
This was early dismissal for Perry as Australia Women were reduced to 114/3. However, Tahila McGrath delivered a sensational finishing knock of 26 off just 9 balls and powered Australia to a competitive total of 198 runs.
