Virat Kohli scored his 49th ODI hundred on Sunday (November 5) during India’s high-voltage World Cup 2023 match against South Africa, taking place at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. It was the big day for the veteran batsman, who is also celebrating his 35th birthday, and he gave a priceless gift to his ardent fans with a magnificent knock.

Kohli walked into the middle at No. 3 when Rohit Sharma fell after a quickfire 24-ball 40 on a tricky Eden Gardens surface. He remained till the end and left the field after scoring 101* off 121 balls. In his stupendous knock, he kept rotating strikes and only slammed 10 fours.

Fans across all over the entire Eden Gardens were up for stands when Kohli was batting on 99*. They did not need to wait for long, as he punched Kagiso Rabada through the covers to get to a three-digit mark.

In the process, he equalled the ODI century tally of ‘Master Blaster’ Sachin Tendulkar.
