The IPL 2024 season has been a horrendous campaign for the Mumbai Indians. The 5-time champions have become the first team to be eliminated from the competition, and as of late, things have turned from bad to worse for the franchise.

As per a latest report by Indian Express, the senior players in the MI camp, have questioned Hardik's leadership style as the team languishes at the 9th spot in the points table.

Rift in MI camp

If reports are to be believed, then the likes of Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav have criticised the functioning of the team under Hardik's captaincy, and many believed that the team functioned better when Rohit was the leader of the team.

An MI official stated that it isn't about the functioning of the team, but more about the change of guard.

“These are regular teething problems for a team that sees leadership change. This happens in sports all the time,” the source said.

It is being indicated that the senior players and the coaching staff had a discussion a couple of days ago when question marks were raised on how Hardik handles the side. Interestingly, this is not the first time Hardik has been put under the bus. Reports circulated a few days ago that Hardik had an heated altercation with Tilak Varma, who was criticised for his performance against the Delhi Capitals.

The source stated that pointing out fingers at one player for the team's failure didn't sit well with most of the players in the squad.
