Chennai Super Kings (CSK), after posting a below-par score of 167 runs for Punjab Kings (PBKS) to chase in the 53rd match of IPL 2024, secured an early breakthrough in the powerplay. 

In the 2nd over, CSK pacer Tushar Deshpande struck early, claiming two wickets. Jonny Bairstow departed after scoring seven runs, and in the same over, Deshpande dismissed PBKS batter Rilee Rossouw, who aimed to contribute significantly to the team's chase.

It was a brilliant start for the Super Kings, with Deshpande delivering a good length ball at the middle stump. The PBKS batter, seemingly rooted to the crease, attempted to play outside the line without moving his feet, leaving a significant gap between bat and pads. 

This allowed the ball to beat the inside edge and crash into the stumps, resulting in the dismissal of the South African star for a bronze duck.

At the time of writing, PBKS at 42 for 2 in 6 overs, with Sam Curran and Jitesh Sharma at the crease.
