The Northern Superchargers are playing against the Manchester Originals in the third match of The Hundred 2024. This match is being played the Emirates Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester. 

The Welsh Fire won the toss in the game and invited the Manchester Originals to bat first. Notably, the Manchester based franchise are without Jos Buttler in this tournament as he has been ruled out due to injury. 


Phil Salt dismissed for a silver duck

In absence of Jos Buttler, the Originals would have hoped for a solid start from Phil Salt. However, that was not to be as Salt only managed a silver duck in this game. 

The ball was handed over to David Willey for the first set of the match. On the second delivery of the first set, Willey bowled a back of a length delivery that was angled across Salt and was leaving him with the angle. Phil Salt spotted this as an opportunity to score runs. He rocked back and played an uppish drive to be caught by Glenn Phillips at covers. 

The loss of Phil Salt so early in the innings has shocked the Manchester Originals. The middle order of the team has to now bat out of their skins to put a good total on the board.
