As India claimed a thrilling four-wicket victory over New Zealand to lift the 2025 Champions Trophy, Shreyas Iyer emerged as the night’s dual hero, first with a gritty 48 (62 balls) that steadied a wobbling chase, and then with a celebration that broke the internet.

Walking in at 106/2 after Virat Kohli’s early dismissal, Iyer anchored critical partnerships with Rohit Sharma and Axar Patel, soaking up pressure during a tense middle overs phase. Shaking off the match jitters, Iyer shook his legs during the celebrations that broke the internet with a deja vu moment.

Iyer Pulls Off Quirky Move To Tribute 2013 Win

As fireworks erupted at Dubai, Iyer sprinted to the centre and unleashed a celebration upgrade for the ages. Channelling Virat Kohli’s iconic 2013 Gangnam Style jig, he kicked off with the classic horse-riding move, then spun into a desi twist. Blending Bhangra footwork with the classic Gangnam style feet swapping left the teammates in splits.

Meanwhile, Shreyas' knock, laced with two sixes and calculated aggression against spin, epitomized his post-match declaration, where he said, “I thrive under pressure… contributing to victory is everything.”  But apparently, it was his post-win antics that stole the spotlight.

BlackCaps Fail To Put Up To India's Spin Magic

New Zealand’s 251/7, built on Daryl Mitchell’s gritty 63 and Michael Bracewell’s late surge seemed competitive on a tacky Dubai pitch. India’s spinners, Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy, strangled the middle overs, but Bracewell’s 132-strike-rate blitz ensured a late flourish.

In reply, India’s chase mirrored the match’s rollercoaster. Rohit-Gill’s 105-run start, a mini-collapse triggered by Santner, and Iyer’s calm amidst chaos. At 203/5, Lokesh Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja showcased nerves of steel, sealing the win with six balls to spare.
