Punjab Kings' captain Shikhar Dhawan has shone brightly as a leader in the ongoing Indian Premier League season. 

The stylish opener, who has led Punjab Kings to two valiant wins, proved his worth for the franchise yet again, helping them get rid of Rahul Tripathi in the ongoing IPL 2024 encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad. 

The incident occurred during the tenth over of Hyderabad's innings when Dhawan brought Harshal Patel back into the attack to break the consolidating stand between Tripathi and Nitish Kumar Reddy. 

The move paid rich dividends, with the ace pacer getting rid of Tripathi on his fourth delivery. After keeping things tight on his first three balls, Harshal bowled a bouncer, as Tripathi failed to execute an uppercut. 

However, as soon as the ball was collected by Jitesh Sharma behind the stumps, the Punjab Kings players appealed for a caught behind. 

After the on-field umpire declared the batter not out, PBKS captain Shikhar Dhawan went upstairs. He was influenced by Sam Curran, who was confident of the dismissal. 

His decision proved to be a masterstroke, as the TV umpire found a thin outside edge off Tripathi's bat, eventually asking his on-field colleague to reverse his call. 

Thus, Punjab got the prized scalp of Tripathi, who was looking set in the middle. As of writing, the visitors were in a spot of bother, placed at 100 for four in 13 overs.
