After receiving countless bruises and counter-attacking the Australian bowlers, Rishabh Pant's patience finally ended as he played a rash shot and gifted his wicket to the opposition. Scott Boland looked wickedly happy as Aussie skipper Pat Cummins grabbed onto a direct catch to end Pant's stay.
Pant, who showed great composure in the first innings, played a knock of good knock of 40 runs off 98 balls. During his stay at the crease, he slammed three boundaries and one gorgeous 99m long maximum. The Sydney Cricket Ground crowd witnessed pure class as Ravindra Jadeja and Pant scripted a brilliant 48-run partnership.
However, in the 57th over, Scott Boland had other plans as he unleashed a back of a length outside off delivery. Unfortunately, Pant could not identify the trap and saw a scoring opportunity. He decided to go for a pull and mistimed it as the ball came off the splice of the bat. The ball travelled straight to the mid-on, where Pat Cummins quickly settled under it and took a good low catch.

This marked the end of Pant's fighting knock, and Boland picked up his third wicket of the day. Both Cummins and Boland looked over the moon after sending Pant back. Nevertheless, Pant did indeed play an uncharacteristic knock and helped India get past the 100-run mark. On the very next delivery, Scott Boland completed a four wicket haul as he removed Nitish Kumar Reddy for a duck.
At the time of writing, India are at 134/7 with the visitors just losing Jadeja. Washington Sundar is now joined by Prasidh Krishna in the middle.
