The Southern Brave and the Birmingham Phoenix faced off in a clash for the ages in The Eliminator of The Hundred 2024 at the Kennington Oval in London, United Kingdom. The match brought out the best in all the players involved in it as went down to the Super Set before the winner was decided.

Southern Brave put on a moderate total after batting first

The Birmingham Phoenix won the toss in the match and put the Southern Brave to bat. Though the Brave lost Davies early, James Vince and Leus du Plooy steadied the ship for the team. Even though the parting of the duo put the Brave in trouble and the batters to follow did not show much resilience, the Southern Brave posted a total of 126/6 at the end of their 100 balls. Adam Milne led the charge with the ball as he picked up three wickets for 18 runs in his 20 balls.

Birmingham Phoenix choke in the final set

The Birmingham Phoenix did not get off to a great start while chasing the moderate target. However, Liam Livingstone stood up for the team and delivered when it mattered the most. The English all-rounder scored 55 off 34 and kept the Phoenix in the game.

The game went down to a stage where 10 runs were needed of the last five balls. Akeal Hosein conceded six off a no-ball in the first delivery of the over and it looked like things are over for the Brave. However the West Indian spinner made a dramatic comeback and conceded just two off the next five deliveries while picking up the wicket of Liam Livingstone. This meant that the game went down to the Super Set or the Super Five.

Chris Jordan does the job with the bat for the Brave

Jofra Archer came up with the ball for the Brave in the Super Set and conceded just seven runs off it. He also took the wicket of Liam Livingstone off the first delivery and another wicket fell as a result of a run-out.

In a surprise move Chris Jordan was sent in to bat by the Brave along with Kieron Pollard. The English all-rounder repaid the faith the team showed in him by scoring 10 off three deliveries and taking his team past the victory line.

With this dramatic win, the Southern Brave have qualified for the summit clash of the tournament. They will now play the Oval Invincibles in the Final at the iconic Lord's on August 18.
