The inagural season of the DPL 2024 got off to a flying start as Purani Delhi-6 and South Delhi Superstarz contested in a closely fought game in the season opener at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Both the teams put out their best on the field to gift the spectators a game that went down the wire. 

Notably, Purani Delhi-6 was led by the Indian star wicket-keeper batter, Rishabh Pant and South Delhi Superstarz was under the young batter from LSG, Ayush Badoni. The Superstarz won the toss in this game and put Purani Delhi to bat.

Courtesy of a strong foundation led by Arpit Rana (59 off 41) and Rishabh Pant (35 off 32), the Purani Delhi batting line-up was able to post 197/3 on the board. Lalit Yadav (34 off 21) and Vansh Bedi (47 off 19) came up with cameos that boosted the scoring rate of the team towards the final stages of the innings. 

Priyansh Arya (57 off 30) and Sarthak Ray (41 off 26) got the South Delhi off to a great start as they stitched 87 runs off just 41 deliveries for the first wicket. At the fall of Sartha Ray, skipper Ayush Badoni walked out into the centre and ensured that the team continued with the momentum they have got.

Ayush Badoni slammed a blazing 57 off just 29 deliveries. He decorated his knock with just one four and six massive maximums. Out of these six maximums four came in a single over against Ankit Bhadana. His assault provided the cushion for the lower order batters to take it easy even when the chase was going south for them. 

The Purani Delhi bowlers made a come back in to the game as they picked up six wickets for just 31 runs, but it was not enough to restrict the Superstarz. 

With his fiery knock, Aysuh Badoni has sent a clear message to all the IPL franchises about his abilities. This knock by the young right-handed batter should be one of the reasons that will make all the managements of the estemeed league think of him during the upcoming mega auction.
