Former West Indian batter, Chadwick Walton shone brilliantly in the Legends League Cricket 2023, leading the Manipal Tigers to a dominant 89-run victory over Bhilwara Kings. The match, held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, turned into a showcase for Walton's explosive batting.

Spectacular century by Walton steered Manipal Tigers to a big win

Walton's innings was the cornerstone of the Tigers' colossal total of 211/3 in their 20 overs. His explosive performance included a breathtaking 104 runs off just 55 balls, featuring nine fours and six huge sixes. Walton’s hundred was a combination of technical mastery and aggressive intent, setting the stage for the Tigers' commanding position in the game.

The Jamaican cricketer, who has represented West Indies in all formats of the game, showcased his class and experience right from the start. Walton reached his fifty in a composed manner, taking 33 deliveries, but then shifted gears dramatically. He blazed through to his century, requiring only 19 more balls, an acceleration that left the opposition bowlers reeling.

Walton's partnership with fellow opener Robin Uthappa was crucial in laying a solid foundation for the Tigers. The duo put together 87 runs in 51 balls, with Uthappa contributing a brisk 51 from 30 deliveries.

Following this, Walton was involved in a 120-run stand, first with Zimbabwe’s Hamilton Masakadza (retired hurt) and then with Thisara Perera, further consolidating the Tigers' massive total.

Despite being eventually dismissed by former West Indies all-rounder Chris Barnwell, Walton's innings had already done the damage. In response, the Kings struggled to keep pace with the required run rate. They were restricted to 122 for eight, with only Sri Lankan opener Tillakaratne Dilshan showing some resistance with a quick 26.

The Tigers' bowling was spearheaded by former Trinidad and Tobago leg-spinner Imran Khan, who clinched three wickets for 31 runs. Notably, all of Khan's wickets were caught by Walton, capping off an outstanding all-around performance by the Jamaican star.
