The second ODI between India Women and Ireland Women is underway at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot, Gujarat. After clinching a victory in the first match, the Indian side was off to batting in the first innings. However, they were jolted by losing their key performer and captain, Smriti Mandhana.
Smriti Mandhana, who looked sublime, smashed 73 runs off 54 balls, including ten boundaries and two long maximums. She became the victim of Georgina Dempsy, who did not drop the catch this time.

In the 19th over, Orla Prendergast bowled a short of a length delivery around off at 110.1 kmph. Mandhana decided to take it on and went for a pull shot; however mistimed it, and it went straight into the hands of Georgina Dempsey, who made sure to make no mistake this time. Dempsey roared in excitement as she made up for her previous mistake and provided her team with a crucial breakthrough.
Mandhana-Rawal Steer India To A Strong Total
India Women started strong as they won the toss and opted to bat first in the second ODI. They started strong as Mandhana and Pratika Rawal stitched up a brilliant 156 run partnership. After losing the skipper, Pratika also fell for 67 runs. At the time of writing, Harleen Deol and and Jemimah Rodrigues are out in the middle with India Women at 235/2.
