Promising all-rounder Cameron Green emerged as the saviour for Australia in the WTC final, helping them break the stand between Ajinkya Rahane and Shardul Thakur through a stunning catch at the gully region. Green, who had an ordinary outing with the bat, thus exhibited his exemplary fielding skills to provide his side with the much-needed breakthrough they were seeking for a long time on the third day.

The incident happened in the 62nd over, as Australian skipper Pat Cummins introduced himself to bowl the second over of the post-lunch session. After keeping it tight and conceding only a single run in his first five deliveries, Cummins managed to induce an outside edge, with the ball flying towards the gully after being nicked by Rahane.

However, Rahane, a two-time lucky so far in the game, couldn't survive this time, as Green dived to his right to pluck a one-handed stunner, compelling the Mumbai batter make his way back to the hut with disappointment written all over his face.

Green's outstanding fielding effort received applause from all corners of the world, as it helped Australia bounce back in the game, breaking the seventh wicket stand of 109 runs between the two Mumbaikars.

Despite losing Rahane immediately after the lunch break, India are on the verge of avoiding the follow-on, placed at 266 for seven, with Thakur and Umesh Yadav batting on 39* and 1*, respectively. However, with India having only three wickets in hand, Australia are expected to get a mammoth first innings lead in the Test match.
