The third day of the ongoing World Test Championship final saw India make a remarkable comeback in the game, courtesy of a fighting seventh wicket stand between Ajinkya Rahane and Shardul Thakur. India had a horrible start to the day, as Scott Boland cleaned up KS Bharat in the very first over. However, two gutsy Mumbaikars, Thakur and Rahane, showcased exemplary resistance to prevent any further hiccups, guiding India to 260 for six at lunch.

Besides being determined, both batters rode their luck, getting multiple lifelines during the course of their partnership. While Rahane was dropped once, Thakur survived a LBW, thanks to a no ball from Australian skipper Pat Cummins.

The incident occurred when Cummins continued from his end to deliver the final over before the lunch break. The experienced seamer bowled an in-dipper straightaway, trapping Thakur plumb in front of the stumps. However, upon being given out, the batter opted to go upstairs.

His decision to ask for the DRS proved a boon for team India, as the third umpire found Cummins overstepped, eventually overturning the on-field call. This was the second time the Australian captain was denied a dismissal by the TV umpire due to a front-foot no-ball.

Following the incident, Indian fans took to Twitter to take a dig at Cummins.
