After struggling for control in the initial matches, Arshdeep Singh found his radar perfectly with the new ball in the Asian Games final against Afghanistan on Saturday (October 7) afternoon in Hangzhou, China.

The promising left-arm seamer delivered a beautiful inswinging delivery early on in the proceedings for the tournament finale and got rid of the opposition's dangerous top-order batter Mohammad Shahzad.

Shahzad, who shaped up to hit over the in-field through the off-side, was done in by the prodigious nature of the swing as the delivery from Arshdeep moved in late to get the thick leading edge on its way to the safe hands of Indian wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma.

The Punjab seamer tied Shahzad's hands up completely, giving him absolutely no room and breathing space to execute his cut shot. Shahzad moved well outside the leg stump but still found no space to go through with his stroke after the delivery from Arshdeep bounced too big on him and jagged back in to take the top edge.

Arshdeep Singh With A Beauty To Dismiss Mohammad Shahzad

The peach of delivery was a course correction on line and length from Arshdeep, who had given Shahzad the ideal space and room on the previous delivery and was smashed for a boundary over his head by the aggressive right-hander.

It seemed Shehzad was intent on continuing to put the young Indian seamer under pressure with another big shot. However, Arshdeep showed great maturity in the moment by readjusting his line and delivering beauty of an inswinger that would've been too good for most batters at the international stage.

If anything, Shehzad made his life tougher by choosing to move that far down the on-side, making a premeditated movement, which Arshdeep was quick enough to spot and tweak his plans for this delivery.

Shahzad is always Afghanistan's key man but had little answers to the inch-perfect ball from the left-arm swing bowler. The batter initially suggested he hadn't nicked the ball and that it rubbed his shoulder on its way to the keeper. However, the standing umpire adjudged him out and sent him back for just 4 runs off 6 deliveries.
