The World Cup 2023 is underway with the finalists of the 2019 World Cup, England and New Zealand fighting it out in the curtain raiser. The venue is the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and the Kiwis have decided to bowl first after winning the toss. They have managed to take four wickets at the time of writing, with the third one of Harry Brook, who was looking quite dangerous before he departed on 25 off 16 balls.

How Harry Brook departed?

It was the 17th over of England's innings and Brook smashed Rachin Ravindra with two consecutive fours and then a six to stamp his authority on the Kiwi all-rounder. However, just after he hit a six off the pull shot in the previous delivery, Brook went for another pull shot over deep mid-wicket but failed to timed it. The ball went high in the air and straight to Devon Conway who took the catch comfortably to put England in a spot of bother.

Dawid Malan was the first one to depart while Jonny Bairstow who got a good start, departed on 33 off 35 balls. At the time of writing, England are 121-4 at the end of 22 overs and it will be an interesting battle in the middle overs with Joe Root and Jos Buttler at the crease.
