Litton Das cracked a fiery 70 from just 48 balls against Sylhet Strikers in match number 27 of the BPL 2024-25 season at Chattogram’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium. The elegant opening batter launched four boundaries and four sixes in his enterprising knock to get Dhaka Capitals off to a flier.

Litton’s calculated innings, coupled with captain Thisara Perera’s 17-ball 37 catapulted the Capitals to a monumental 196-6 from 20 overs after they opted to bat first.

Litton Das wicket aggressively celebrated in BPL

Litton Das peppered Sylhet Strikers bowlers with a sequence of four boundaries and four sixes in his fiery 48-ball 70 at the top of the order. The cricketer was eventually dismissed by Bangladesh-based Strikers fast bowler Ruyel Miah in the penultimate over of the innings after being holed out by Sumon Khan near the boundary line.

Ruyel let out a huge roar to celebrate the occasion as Litton was making his way back to the pavilion.

Litton Das’ dismissal also ended his thunderous 81-run partnership with captain Thisara Perera, during which the veteran Sri Lankan clobbered 37 runs from just 17 deliveries with three boundaries and three huge sixes. Courtesy of Litton and Perera’s fireworks, Dhaka Capitals ended up hauling 196-6 from their 20 overs.

In response, Sylhet Strikers fell six runs short of their target despite featuring a run-chase masterclass from opening batter Rony Talukdar (68 off 44). Middle-order batters Aaron Jones (36 off 32), Jaker Ali (28 off 13) and Ariful Haque (29 off 13) also chipped in with valiant contributions but to no avail.

For Dhaka Capitals, captain Perera picked up the important wickets of Jones and Talukdar to claim match-winning figures of 2-31. The Sri Lankan all-rounder was eventually declared the ‘Player of the Match’ for his efforts.
