Dhaka Capitals secured a narrow-win over Sylhet Strikers to round up a high-scoring thriller at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in match number 27 of the BPL 2024-25 season. Captain Thisara Perera led his team from the front with an exceptional all-round show after Litton Das’s sparkling half-century.

Dhaka Capitals opener Tanzid Hasan smoked a boundary and two sixes to start off his innings before finding Ariful Haque off Sylhet Strikers spinner Tipu Sultan in just the fourth over of the match. JP Kotze and Mosaddek Hossain both fell in quick succession to Samiullah Shinwari (2-27) as the Capitals reached a sluggish 62-3 around the first eight overs of the innings.

Hasan’s opening partner Litton Das, however, held the Dhaka Capitals innings together amidst their top order collapse by composing a fiery half-century from just 38 balls with four boundaries and a couple of huge sixes. Litton’s counterattacking stroke play ensured the Capitals raced to 100-3 by the end of the 14th over.

Sabbir Rahman at number five chipped in with a 21-ball 24 during his 43-run partnership with Litton Das took Dhaka Capitals past the 100-run mark. Rahman’s dismissal to Tipu Sultan (2-26) was succeeded by a sizzling 81-run stand between half-centurion Das and Capitals captain Thisara Perera, with the latter of the two blasting 37 runs from just 17 balls with three boundaries and three sixes.

Litton Das top-scored in the innings with 70 of 48 balls before his dismissal to Ruyel Miah (1-32) as the Dhaka Capitals reached a competitive 196-6 from 20 overs.

Sylhet Strikers lost opening batter George Munsey to a clean-up job from Dhaka Capitals spinner Mosaddek Hossain for just three in the second over of the run-chase. Zakir Hasan at number three made just eight before he made his way back to the sheds within the opening powerplay after getting caught out by Mosaddek Hossain off Mustafizur Rahman.

Rony Talukdar kept the chase alive for the Strikers alongside Aaron Jones with both cricketers crafting 80 runs from just nine overs together for the third wicket. Jones launched three boundaries and a six in his swift 36, while Talukdar top-scored with a boundary-laden 44-ball 68 until both well-set batters were dismissed in quick succession by Capitals skipper Thisara Perera (2-31).
