Since Pakistan have arrived in Hyderabad, all eyes have been on Babar Azam, as he has emerged as a superstar in world cricket. However, the stylish batter had a poor start to his 2023 World Cup campaign, being dismissed cheaply in Pakistan's first group-stage game against the Netherlands in Hyderabad.

After being put into bat, Pakistan got off to a disastrous start, losing Fakhar Zaman early in the innings. As soon as the southpaw departed, skipper Babar Azam joined the middle to steady the ship for Pakistan. However, the right-hander couldn't create much impact, as he got out for an eighteen-ball five in the ninth over.

The Netherlands' part-time bowler Colin Ackermann bowled a short ball, inviting Babar for a pull shot. Although the batter obliged to it, he mistimed it and hit the ball straight to the short midwicket.

Contrary to expectations, the Dutch have been absolutely magnificent with the ball so far. After getting rid of Babar, they got the prized scalp of Imam-ul-Haq in the very next over. As a result, Pakistan are in a precarious position at the moment, reeling at 49 for three in 10.4 overs, with Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel batting on 9* and 6*, respectively.
