Azam Khan's wicket in ILT20 encounter (Source:@ilt20onzee/X.com)
Azam Khan is a highly rated cricketer in T20 format as he has the power to destroy bowling attacks when he is on song. However, the right-handed wicketkeeper batter has lacked consistency in his career, and is now going through a difficult phase where he is finding it hard to even get to double figures.
In the seven matches of the third edition of ILT20, Azam Khan has scored just 56 runs and his latest failure came against Dubai Capitals in the 30th match of the tournament. The right-handed batter was promoted at the top of the order in absence of Fakhar Zaman, but it did not change his fortunes as he departed on just two off three balls.
Desert Vipers Crumble With Bat Against Dubai Capitals
The Pakistan batter fell against Obed McCoy, the West Indies pacer as he angled a good-length delivery, across the right-hander. Azam tried to punch it from his crease but got a thick outside edge and Gulbadin Naib at widish first slip completed the formalities with a fine diving catch.
Azam Khan's highest score in the tournament is just 21, and it shows how he has struggled this season. After the wicket of Azam Khan, Hales also fell in the Powerplay, but Dan Lawrence and Sam Curran brought some stability into their innings. The duo departed in quick succession though and from 101-3, Desert Vipers crumbled to 104-7 in no time.
Afghanistan's Qais Ahmad picked four wickets and a win will take Dubai Capitals to number second position on the points table. Desert Vipers are already at the top and it would be interesting to see how they go about their business now.
