The 10th match of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 saw a thrilling contest between the Guyana Amazon Warriors and the St. Lucia Kings at the Daren Sammy Stadium, Gros Islet, St. Lucia. The match was filled with excitement, early wickets, and an incredible catch by Azam Khan that left spectators in awe.

Early Breakthroughs for Guyana Amazon Warriors

Guyana Amazon Warriors, after winning the toss, chose to field first. They struck early, dismantling the St. Lucia Kings' top order before the powerplay. By the sixth over, three wickets had already fallen. 

The pivotal moment of the innings came when Keemo Paul bowled to Johnson Charles. Charles, having scored 19 runs off 13 balls, was sent back to the pavilion, thanks to a stunning catch by Pakistan’s Azam Khan behind the stumps. 

The breathtaking catch was a highlight that significantly shifted the momentum in favour of the Warriors.


Guyana Amazon Warriors Dominate Against St. Lucia Kings 

St. Lucia Kings struggled from the start and were eventually bowled out for 100 runs. Imran Tahir and Gudakesh Motie were the architects of the Kings' downfall, each claiming three wickets. 

In response, the Guyana Amazon Warriors chased down the modest target with ease. Tim Robinson and Rahmanullah Gurbaz provided a blistering start, adding 62 runs in just 5.2 overs. Robinson’s early departure was followed by Gurbaz’s explosive innings of 47 off 19 balls, which included 7 towering sixes.

Shai Hope contributed a six before being dismissed for 11. Azam Khan’s batting woes continued as he was dismissed by Alzarri Joseph. However, Keemo Paul and Shimron Hetmyer ensured a smooth finish, securing the win with 10 overs to spare.
