Anrich Nortje's early strike set the tone for the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in their opening match against the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua on August 30, 2024, in the CPL 2024. 

Nortje's Brilliant Yorker Fools The Batter

In the second over of the innings, Teddy Bishop, Antigua and Barbuda Falcons opener attempted to create some space on the leg side and found himself undone by a perfectly executed yorker that crashed into the base of the off stump. 


Nortje's sharpness and precision with the ball were too much for Bishop, who was just a fraction slow to bring his bat down. This early wicket gave the Patriots a dream start and showcased Nortje's ability to deliver under pressure right from the beginning of the tournament.

It is worth mentioning that even after losing their first wicket early, Antigua and Barbuda Falcons opener Fakhar Zaman has stabilised the Falcons' innings. 

Despite the early wicket of Teddy Bishop, which could have put the team on the back foot. Zaman's counter-attacking approach ensured that the Falcons didn’t lose momentum. 

By taking the attack to the bowlers, he not only alleviated the pressure but also shifted the momentum back in favour of the Falcons. He played some aggressive shots that helped the Falcons regain control and push ahead in the game.
