In the first match of the 12th edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024, St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots have won the toss and elected to bowl first against the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua on August 30, 2024.

It is worth mentioning that Antigua and Barbuda Falcons under the leadership of Chris Green are making their debut as they replace the Jamaica Tallawahs. The team will aim to leave a strong impression right from the start.

The team has a strong batting lineup that features explosive hitters. They have experienced middle order, with Sam Billings and Imad Wasim. In the bowling attack led by Mohammad Amir, the Falcons are well-equipped to challenge any opponent.

On the other hand, the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots, the 2021 champions, will be eager to bounce back after a disappointing season last year. Their squad is filled with firepower, with Evin Lewis, Rilee Rossouw, and Kyle Mayers at the forefront of their batting lineup.

The addition of Anrich Nortje to their bowling attack alongside Dominic Drakes and Odean Smith adds serious pace. While their spin department, led by Tabraiz Shamsi adds depth to the bowling department.

Captains Thoughts

Chris Green (Antigua & Barbuda Falcons Captain): "Look, Brandon King had a bad injury in the T20 World Cup. Hopefully, he will be back soon. We are really excited. We haven't had home games for two years, so excited this year. We want to have fun in the home games. New franchise, new home, we are trying to create a strong home base. A few local players from Antigua and a few coaching staff as well are from Antigua."

Andre Fletcher (St Kitts and Nevis Patriots Captain): "We are going to bowl first. New pitch, want to give our bowlers the first go and try to restrict them to a good total. It is about enjoying each other's company. We can't control the result, we can control what we do. Need to start well and take it from there. We have 6 debutants. They have played for the other franchises. Few new faces. Hopefully we can showcase some good skills."
