It has been a torrid World Cup 2023 for Pakistan skipper Babar Azam. The World number one batter has failed to lit up the tournament, and after strings of low scores against Netherlands and Sri Lanka, Babar has once again failed to deliver against Australia in a tricky run-chase.

Chasing a tricky 368 on a placid Chinnaswamy surface, Pakistan were off to a rolicking start, courtesy of fifties from Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafique. However, the wicket of Shafique changed the course of the match as Imam followed him back to the pavilion.

Babar joined hands with the man in-form, Mohammad Rizwan, but the partnership was short-lived as Adam Zampa, who was taken to the cleaners by the Pakistan openers, came back to trap the big fish.

Not the best of deliveries from Zampa, as he bowled a shorter ball. Babar, trying to find a boundary, pulled it hard, but found Pat Cummins at short-mid, who grabbed a stunner to dismiss the opposition captain.

The wicket of Babar pressed the panic button in the Pakistan camp as the required rate has jumped to 8.50 runs per over.

The onus now lies on the shoulders of Rizwan to make a match out of this situation.
