Andre Russell's power-hitting is renowned all over the cricketing world and he has the ability to get going right from the ball one. He did exactly that in the game against Mumbai Indians, the 51st match of IPL 2024, as he played a lovely upper cut on his very first ball to get off the mark in style.

It was an eventful 17th over of the match by Hardik Pandya. On the first ball, Manish Pandey hit MI skipper for a six, but after a wide on the following ball, the next legal ball produced a wicket. Russell walked in and Hardik bowled a short ball outside off. The Caribbean powerhouse made some room and played a cut shot that went sailing over deep backward point for a maximum.

However, in the same over, Russell was run out on 7 after facing just two balls after a big miscommunication with Venkatesh Iyer.

 Earlier, Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to bowl first and his bowlers responded brilliantly by picking five wickets inside seven overs. Venkatesh Iyer though build a solid partnership with Impact Player Manish Pandey and took KKR to safer shores, but they could have got more at the death, had Russell stayed till the end.
