For the 31st matchup of the Big Bash League 2023-24 (BBL|13), Adelaide Strikers locked horns with Hobart Hurricanes at Adelaide Oval earlier today.

Meanwhile, Hobart Hurricanes witnessed a horrific start as the top order collapsed inside the powerplay. The scoreboard reflected 35/4 when Hobart's find of the season, Nikhil Chaudhary, walked out to rescue his team from a serious slump.

Nikhil Chaudhary Goes For A Diamond Duck

However, in a bizarre turn of events, Chaudhary was sent packing for a duck. Nikhil walked out to the crease after the fall of Corey Anderson's wicket. He faced spin from the other end. Cameron Boyce of Strikers bowled a tossed-up delivery that landed wide outside the leg stump. While the ball was called wide, Nikhil was beaten as he missed his premeditated flick shot.

The batter lost his balance, and a sharp Alex Carey produced beautiful work behind the stumps to end Chaudhary's short stay at the crease. Replays showed that Nikhil's foot was on the line, and the decision was ruled in the Strikers' favour. And with the fall of Nikhil Chaudhary's wicket, Hurricanes' half side returned to the hut.

Nikhil Chaudhary has been making waves this BBL season with his insane hitting power and striking ability. However, the Indian-origin batter failed to unleash his dominance by the barest of margin in this particular game.

Regardless, Ben McDermott's resilience at the top and Chris Jordan's later fireworks guided the Hurricanes to a fighting total of 165 runs by the end of 20 overs. It's now the turn for the strikers to chase down the total to grab two crucial points.

Hurricanes and Strikers look identical on the points table. While Hobart ranks fifth with six points, Strikers are just a position below with five points to its tally.
