Age is just a number, and veterans who have been playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) have been proving the statement from time to time.

However, not once but twice on Tuesday evening cricket fans witnessed spectacular efforts from the veteran, and it was Ajinkya Rahane who hogged the limelight after an unthinkable diving catch from 42-year-young MS Dhoni.

Coming to defend 207 in Chennai, CSK had a comparatively easy task against Gujarat Titans in last season’s final rematch. Yet, their fielders, as well as MS Dhoni, did not look casual on the field, and the way Rahane, aged 35, pulled off the catch off David Miller left everyone in awe.

The catch took place during the 12th over of the Titans’ innings when Miller, batting on 21 off 16 balls, tried to play a lofted shot against Tushar Deshpande. However, the South African did not get the timing right while playing it through mid-wicket, and Rahane dived forward with perfection to complete one of the catches of the season.

Meanwhile, CSK are in complete control at the time of writing, as the Titans could only manage 110/4 after 14 overs. They have to score 97 off 36 balls to pull off a miraculous victory in their own backyard.
