Adil Rashid has been England's go-to bowler in white-ball cricket for almost a decade now, and is still going strong at the age of 36. He did well in the recent T20I series against India and bowled well in the first ODI in Nagpur as well. He got one wicket and it was a lovely delivery that would have made even great Shane Warne proud.
It was the 34th over of India's innings, and Axar Patel was well set, batting on 52 off 47 balls. However, that's where Rashid came in with an absolute dream ball. He delivered a lovely tossed up delivery, outside off from 'round the wicket. Axar Patel, the left-handed batter tried to work it away towards the leg side, but the ball turned drastically and sneaked between bat and pad to hit the leg-pole.
India Start Off ODI Series With A Win
The turn left everyone stunned at the ground and Axar Patel kept looking at the pitch for some time after his dismissal. Even Shubman Gill looked shock and it was a dream delivery from the talismanic leggie. However, despite Axar Patel's dismissal, India were still in a strong position. The home team lost KL Rahul and Shubman Gill after Axar's dismissal, but they got home in style with Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya taking them over the line.
Earlier, England won the toss and decided to bat first, but they could muster only 248 runs with with Harshit Rana and Ravindra Jadeja bagging three wickets each. The win has given India a 1-0 lead in the series, and England would have to win the second match in Cuttack to keep the series alive.
