In the recently concluded first T20I between India and England at the Eden Gardens, it was a Abhishek Sharma show as the 24-year-old smashed a 20-ball fifty to help India register a thumping win over the visitors in the first T20I to lead the series 1-0. The hosts had a near-perfect day as they were ahead in the match from the first ball.
Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakaravarthy set the tone with the ball as their spells helped India restrict the Three Lions to just 132 runs. In reply, Sanju Samson got off to a good start, but Jofra Archer brought England back in the hunt with two wickets in a single over, including Suryakumar Yadav's wicket, who registered a duck.

Meanwhile, Abhishek Sharma was unfazed by the wickets an played his natural game. The southpaw smashed 79 (34), which featured eight sixes and five fours. Further, the opener brought up his fifty in 20 balls and too in style by whacking Overton for a six.

It is worth noting that Sharma smashed the second fastest fifty against England by an Indian in T20Is. He went past KL Rahul, who earlier held the second spot, and now is only behind Yuvraj Singh, who smashed the fastest fifty by an Indian against England during 2007 T20 World Cup.
Talking about the 2nd T20I, then India and England will lock horns at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai on January 25.
