Afghanistan batter Sediqullah Atal smashed seven sixes in an over during a recently-concluded Kabul Premier League 2023 match. The youngster, leading Shaheen Hunters in the game, charted an unbeaten 118 from just 56 deliveries to boost his side to 213-6 upfront.

The total turned out to be a match-winning one for the Hunters, as they restricted Abasin Defenders to just 121 later in the run-chase. Fittingly, Atal was adjudged the Player of the Match for his efforts.


Sediqullah Atal replicates Gaikwad’s heroics

In the penultimate over of the Shaheen Hunters innings, Sediqullah Atal dispatched Defenders bowler Amir Zazai for a six off a no-ball upfront. Zazai delivered five wides off the next delivery as the over rocketed to 12 runs without a legal ball being bowled. 

Atal launched six successive sixes off the next six legal deliveries to make it a record 48 runs from the over, as the Hunters' total catapulted from 158-6 to 206-6 in no time.

The young batter finished with 118* from his side's 213-run total, as they defeated the Defenders by 92 runs.

Interestingly, Indian batter Ruturaj Gaikwad had also whacked seven sixes in an over late last year, albeit in a List A game of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022-23 season.

The CSK star, playing for Maharashtra, finished with a career-best 220* in the match against Uttar Pradesh. He launched 16 sixes, alongside his ten boundaries from his 159-ball effort.
