We might have just seen the biggest hit in the history of Big Bash League competition as the Melbourne Stars batter, Hilton Cartwright clobbered one into the orbit and slammed a gigantic six against the rivals, Melbourne Renegades.
Cartwright is one of the purest striker of the cricket ball and he exhibited it in the clash against the rivals. The explosive batter, alongside Glenn Maxwell finished off the things in style as the Stars chased down 169 with utmost ease.
There were many clinical hits during the match but perhaps the best of the lot came from the bat of Cartwright, who slammed a 121-metre six Vs Tom Rogers in the last over of the innings.
The Renegades bowler gave a freebie as he pitched a length ball outside the off and Hilton Cartwright was ready for his bat swing as he made the perfect connection and dispatched it 10 rows back as the Stars clinched the victory with ease.
Bethell fights hard, but Stars' firepower seals the win
Batting first, the Renegades lost a flurry of wickets as they had lost 3 in quick successions. The team needed someone to step up and the English superstar, Jacob Bethell, alongside Jonathan Wells resurrected the innings.
The duo scored 49 and 45 each as the team reached a respectable 168. The Stars also lost a couple of early wickets, but Marcus Stoinis, alongside the ever-reliable Ben Duckett took the game to the opposition.
Maxwell and Cartwright played great cameos as the duo finished the game and gave two crucial points to the team.
